Dear Members and Friends of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church,

Grace and Peace to you from God our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Amen.

As our state, our nation, and our world is adjusting to the daily patterns of life in an attempt to mitigate the effect of COVID-19, so too at Mount Calvary we must adult our patterns.  As your leadership team we are called to love and care for each of you and we are always concerned for your health and safety.

Here is a link to our online services: Mount Calvary SugarPine on YouTube.

It is crucially important that we take these proactive steps because a large portion of our church family is over the age of 60.

There are things we can do to stay in touch!  Don't forget that telephones work!

Pretend you are at fellowship after worship and keep in touch!  Call and connect with another from the church.

We are especially concerned about those who live alone because things can become very lonely!  Let's share our stories with each other and let's take special care to connect with those most vulnerable.
Offering income during a time lie this is a concern because bills still have to be paid.  How can you give if you can't come to worship?

You can mail your offerings to the church office:

Good stewardship also involves self-care.  So be aware of your health.  Engage in the best practices of hand-washing, staying home if you are sick, and social distancing.  But also stay physically active and eat healthy!

You can go for a hike or a walk.  Take time to enjoy God's creation and to reflect on how wonderfully you are made.  Don't spend your days sitting on the couch watching the news.  This will make you sick.  Clean out closet.  Read a book. Engage in the creation of art.

You can pray -- especially pray for those who are on the frontlines visiting and caring for the sick.  You might consider using the following prayer:

Eternal God, amid all the turmoil and changes of the world your love is steadfast and your strength never fails.  In this time of danger and trouble, be to us a sure guardian and rock of defense.  Guide all leaders with your wisdom, comfort those in distress, and grant us courage and hope to face the future; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, Amen.

Call Pastor Debbie if you have any concerns or information she needs to know.

These are painful and disruptive steps.  They are temporary and will be adjusted as events require.  Be not afraid -- this too shall pass. We are engaging in these steps because we are especially mindful of those members who have underlying health issues and those who have been identified as member of high-risk groups.  At Mount Calvary we are resilient, responsive, strong in faith and strong in our connections with God, each other, and the world.

Remember, you are loved!
